Hello HOT Friends,
This past Monday was the official start of summer, lovely people! Are you ready? I sure am. I really, really love the summer and always have, maybe it's because I was born in August. Flowers, life lived outside, daylight until late, the smell of cut grass, bountiful fruit, and veggies finally in season, these are just some of the reasons I can't get enough of summertime. I also love how my beauty routine lightens up along with everything else. This week I want to share some products and info that are perfect going into the summer months.

1. Summer Time Beauty
These 5 products are my summertime go-to's for three reasons; they're quick, they're easy to use and they work!
Essie Expressie Quick Drying Nail Polish -- I can't say enough about these fun colors that go on smoothly and dry in 1 minute! I'm not exaggerating either. If you expect a lot from a polish with the Essie name you won't be disappointed.
EM Cosmetics Moonbeam Cushion Highlighter -- I love the texture of this lightweight illuminating highlighter. It gives your skin a beautiful reflective luminosity without that high beam gleam that so many other highlighting products give you these days.
Supergoop! (Re)setting Mineral Powder -- I was so excited to learn that Supergoop! makers of my favorite SPF product, Unseen Sunscreen, also make a handy powder version (35 SPF) that's easy to carry with you all day to touchup your sun protection any time you need to.
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream -- This rich highly fragrant cream is summer in a bottle! I received a generous sample in my May Beauty Box from Allure and I'm hooked. It has a luscious consistency that visibly tightens and smooths the skin while imparting a subtle sheen.
Maybelline Color Sensational Ultimatte Slim Lipstick -- Anyone who knows me knows that lipstick is the desert island makeup item that I could never live without! It's the superficial thing I missed the most this past masked year. I'm very happy with this lightweight, non drying formula in intense shades like my fave More Scarlet.
2. Have You Heard of The Takamichi Beauty Room?
This sweet little shop tucked into 17th Street at Irving in Manhattan's Gramercy Park neighborhood is a real find! The lovely French proprietress Marie calls her tiny store "a contemporary cabinet of curiosities" and that's exactly what it is! Filled with unique and compelling products in the beauty and wellness sphere I promise you won't leave empty-handed. And if you can't get to this jewel box of a store in person go here and be instantly tempted.

3. Summerize Your Hairdo
Summer is always a perfect time for a haircut and this great article from Allure has 50 amazing examples of fresh shorter hairstyles from buzz cuts to longer bobs with tips on maintaining them. I'm particularly partial to the Lob, or the Long Bob which I'm currently sporting. After more than a year without coloring, cutting, or doing much of anything to my hair, I opted for this versatile haircut and I'm loving it. It's easy to wear blown out straight or in my hair's naturally curly state. And if you want to be up on the hottest hair trends for this summer be sure and read this.
4. Summer Worthy Hair Accessories
Now that you have a new hairdo for the summer isn't it time for some fun hair accessories to keep everything manageable and looking cute? Headbands are continuing to have their moment in the sun (couldn't help myself:) and adding a bit of color or sparkle with a hair clip or two is always a good idea. I find summer a particularly good time for all manner of hair accessories since we're more likely to want to keep hair off our faces in the heat. 5. The Songs of Summer
I love this article from The Insider which shares every song of the summer from the past 45 years! Of course, I had to scroll through and listen to or watch the video for every single one and what memories they brought back! That's another great thing about summertime, there's always a song. The funny thing is, I knew just about every song from every year fairly well even if I didn't particularly love it, but 2020's song was a complete mystery to me! I blame covid. :) What will the song of Summer 2021 be, I wonder?
