WHAT’S HOT?

Paris, Always!

Terry in Paris, 1990.

Dear Hot Friends,

I’m sure we’ve all finished hate-watching the latest season of Emily in Paris by now. Critics may love to criticize it, but none of us can seem to look away—and I get it. We all need a little fantasy right now, and it’s hard to resist the magic of Paris. Is there a more enchanting city? I don’t think so.

Emily in Paris, season 5.

Watching Paris glow on screen instantly takes me back to my own Emily in Paris moment, when I moved there in the late ’80s for my husband Robert’s ad job. I was a young mother of a two-year-old and spoke virtually no French—unless it involved food or fashion. While my experience was nothing like Emily’s, living in Paris remains the single most influential chapter of my life. Those years shaped my sense of style and deepened my appreciation for architecture, design, food, and, most importantly, the French art of joie de vivre. For that, I will always be grateful.

Even as a seasoned New Yorker, I found Paris—and its effortlessly stylish women—slightly intimidating at first. So I did what I do best: I shopped. From the grand department stores—Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, and Le Bon Marché—to trés chic boutiques in every arrondissement, insider sample sales, and extraordinary vintage shops that had been around forever, I dove right in. It was the 1980s, a remarkable decade for fashion, and I took full advantage.

Many of those special collectable finds have made their way to the House of Terrance vintage tab, and you’ll see a few of them below. Each tells a story—and together, I like to think of them as the Terry in Paris Collection. :)

These collectible French pieces are rare, beautifully made, and available only once. Take a closer look before they disappear — and make one part of your story.

Terry xoxo
