WHAT’S HOT?
These Summer Favorites!
7/14/26
Dear Hot Friends,
Happy Bastille Day! While it may not be a holiday everyone celebrates, I always enjoy marking the occasion. It reminds me of the wonderful years I spent living in Paris in the late '80s and early '90s, where I learned to celebrate the day in true French style. The photo above of my son, Aaron, at age four and me was taken during a Bastille Day celebration in 1989. It feels especially fitting today as France heads into the World Cup semifinals—allez Les Bleus!
This week, I thought I'd share a handful of things I'm especially loving this summer. Looking and feeling chic during intense heat can be a challenge, but these finds have made the season a little cooler, a little easier, and a lot more fun.
1. Laura Geller Kajal Eyeliner
I rarely leave the house without eyeliner, but summer heat often causes it to transfer, leaving me with less-than-chic raccoon eyes. This formula stays put beautifully, delivering rich, crease-proof color that lasts all day. I own the Deep Black Kohl, Deep Charcoal, and Midnight Blue—and love all three. Even better, they're on sale for just $14 each, making it easy to build your own wardrobe of gorgeous eye looks.
I've never been able to make a manicure last more than a couple of days. Since I especially love polished nails in the summer, I often resorted to gel manicures—which immediately wreak havoc on my nails. Then my neighborhood salon started offering Dazzle Dry, and, reader...it's a miracle! My manicures now last a full week without damaging my nails. You can even buy the polish yourself if you're feeling ambitious.
3. Pretty Much Everything I've Bought from Uniqlo
As loyal readers know, I've been singing Uniqlo's praises for years, especially their incredible designer collaborations. This summer's collections are particularly good. Cecilie Bahnsen brings her romantic, relaxed luxury; Francesco Rizzo delivers his bold use of color and pattern; and Clare Waight Keller continues to elevate Uniqlo: C with her signature modern elegance. Every piece I've picked up has slipped effortlessly into my wardrobe while keeping me stylish—and, most importantly, cool.
I honestly can't say enough about these sandals. Lately, I've found it almost impossible to wear anything but sneakers because comfort has become non-negotiable. Then I discovered this minimalist take on Teva's classic gladiator sandal. They're unbelievably comfortable, thanks to a supportive molded midsole and elastic lacing, and I've received countless compliments—followed by genuine surprise when I reveal they're Tevas. As an added bonus, they're treated with a peppermint-based anti-odor finish. What's not to love?
I've become a little obsessed with oils this year. I use a face oil by True Botanicals every evening and love applying body oil to damp skin after a shower—it leaves my skin so much softer and glowier than lotion ever does. Supergoop's Glow Oil takes things one step further by adding SPF 40. Since I'm meticulous about sunscreen on my face but not always on my body, this product solves that problem beautifully.
I'm also excited to tell you about the gorgeous vintage necklaces by Connie Bates that I've just added to the site. They're wonderfully wearable—lightweight leather cords adorned with sculptural silver pendants. Many are accented with semi-precious stones. They couldn't be more perfect for our current style moment.
You may remember Connie Bates as the brilliant designer behind Fahrenheit, the cult-favorite line of jewelry and belts that debuted in the 1980s. Inspired by the vibrant energy of New York City, her sculptural designs celebrate individuality, confidence, and strength. They're timeless pieces that make a statement without trying too hard—and I have a feeling you're going to love them as much as I do.
