Hello HOT Friends!

Happy Birthday … to me!! Yes, today is the actual day when I start another trip around the sun, as they say. This past year has definitely not been one of my favorite trips but I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that. Even though this past birthday year had its challenges there was still an awful lot to be thankful for and I try not to lose sight of that. I'm an unabashed lover of birthday celebrations (even as I quake at the increasing number I’m racking up every year), and I really look forward to what this year has in store.

This week’s HOT 5:

1. A Gift To You On My Birthday!

2. How to Store Jewelry

3. What's Barack Reading?

4. Sadly Maskeraides' Moment Isn't Over Yet

5. A Birthday Calls For A Dance Party

2. How to Store Jewelry

I found this article from the website The Skimm' to be incredibly helpful if you're looking for ways to store your accessories. Jewelry, scarves, hats, and bags are always challenging when it comes to organizing them. The key to wearing all of your fabulous accessories is being able to see them! I've always outfitted a wall in or near my closet with tons of little hooks to store most of my necklaces (instant wall art) and have used a little chest with lots of tiny drawers to store everything else. You might find another solution to your liking in the Skimm's article. It feels good to be organized!

3. Barack-Obama's Reading List for2021 .jpg

3. What's Barack Reading?

Barack Obama, one of my favorite human beings and a fellow Leo (Aug. 4th) always gives us a thoughtful and exciting reading list, and this year it is no different! I've just finished one book on the list, Leave The World Behind by Rumaan Alam. This suspenseful and beautifully written story is a commentary on climate change, racism, class, and parenthood. It's a short read and I couldn't put it down. I have just started another on the list, Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, Nobel Prize winner and author of some of my favorite books including Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go. I can tell I'm going to love this newest one too.

4. Sadly Maskeraides' Moment Isn't Over Yet

It's hard to believe that we're back to mask mandates and social distancing but as cases of the Delta variant surge across the country, it looks like it will be a while (if ever) before masks are out of our lives. These are confusing times even if you've been vaccinated, which I'm sure all you lovely readers are. This article from the New York Times does an excellent job of explaining the dos and don'ts for the inoculated. So masks aren't going anywhere and I'm finding my Maskeraides handier than ever. Not for me, keeping a mask around my arm or heaven forbid down on my chin and neck! I'm continuing to make new ones and I'm sure you can find one you'll like for yourself. They make great gifts too! The Times Style Section yesterday shared designers' perspectives on masks and mask accessories, you can read it here. Stay Safe!

Purple Rain, Prince 1984.

5. A Birthday Calls For A Dance Party!

Is there anything more fun than an outdoor impromptu dance party? I loved reading about this performance art group, Improv Everywhere who since 2001 have been staging public events to surprise and delight random strangers through fun public pranks. Watch here and see their latest prank, Stand Here For Dance Party, which takes place in New York City, probably one of the world's most perfect spots for a dance party!

Cheers!

Terry xoxo
