I was so sad to hear that the brilliant Diane Keaton passed away this week at 79. No one ever reimagined preppy style quite like she did—quirky, confident, and completely her own. Thom Browne suited her perfectly; here she is at his 2013 runway show.
Does anyone remember The Official Preppy Handbook? Lisa Birnbach’s 1980 satire on upper-crust style inspired my hunt for the perfect floppy silk bow tie, cream blouse, and oxblood penny loafers. Those preppy classics—button-downs, polos, and loafers—are back for Fall 2025, but this time with a twist: think layers, oversized shapes, and a touch of the unexpected.
