HOT 5 - 3/26/22

Dearest HOT Friends,

Spring has sprung and I for one couldn't be happier! And although it certainly doesn't feel like it outside yet those true soft and sweet spring days are in our near future. I know it can feel downright wrong to be happy about much of anything these days but the arrival of spring which has eternally signaled hope will always be something to celebrate. Here's this week's HOT 5:

1. The Spring Jewelry Trends You Need To Know About

2. The HOT Pick -- Spring Fragrances

3. The Exhibit To See This Spring

4. Bridgerton is Back Baby!

5. Saved the Best for Last (NOT!)

1. The Spring Jewelry Trends You Need To Know About

In my last HOT 5 I shared the spring fashion trends you need to know about and so today I share what's new in jewelry. Sometimes all you need are some new (or old:) pieces to completely update your look for spring. In the images below you'll see an example of the trend and some pieces currently available on the site which represent those trends. And to really motivate you to get some spring in your step I'm offering 20% off all jewelry through the end of March!

Y2K Fun -- Fun is the operative word when you wear these sweet as candy baubles from childhood. Playful and nostalgic, this trend was last seen at the turn of the century, 2000 that is!

Y2K Fun

Bright and Bold -- Get out of neutral and into the bright stuff. Choose oversize proportions in the boldest colors reminiscent of the 1980s. Color can lift your mood too!

Bright and Bold

Playful Rings Rule -- The sweet rings in fun shapes and colors from our childhood are back. Even heritage brands like Dior and Chanel have jumped on the bandwagon. Make sure you rock more than one!

Vintage Vibes -- A love for all things vintage is not slowing down so it makes sense that a major trend for spring 2022 is jewelry that looks like it came from your favorite neighborhood consignment shop. It's better if yours actually does!

Vintage Vibes

Silver Linings -- The trend for silver metals vs. gold has been bubbling up for a couple of years now. Make sure you choose silver with a little edge to keep it interesting.

Power Pendants -- Make a statement with a powerful pendant! Available in a wide choice of materials the only requirement is that you go big or go home!

Hoops There It Is -- Hoops are a forever jewelry staple that will always be on-trend. Universally flattering and right for every occasion, spring 2022 brings us the huge hoop as an update.

Chain Reaction -- Large links continue to rule and we can thank JW Anderson for starting it all with his chunky chain loafer.

2. The HOT Pick -- Spring Fragrances

Doesn't the arrival of spring always call for a new fragrance? Maybe one that's completely floral-based, perhaps slightly lighter than your winter choice, and even something that's a totally new concept that you've never considered. I've chosen 5 below that sound delicious and intriguing. See if you agree with me.

1. Tom Ford Rose D'Almalfi -- Tom always brings the bold to fragrance! I've been a fan for years. Definitely not the choice for wallflowers but so right if you're looking for something provocative and different. This new fragrance, infused with Italian bergamot, is timeless and fresh.

2. Oscar de la Renta Alibi -- I admit I just love the name of this one. It's described as incorporating peach and pear blossom which harmonize with mandarin, bergamot, and peony. It’s light and airy—but grounded in the fainter top notes by a hint of amber.

3. Henry Rose Sheep's Clothing -- You might know this perfume brand founded by actress Michelle Pfeiffer when she couldn't find "safe" fragrance products. Her newest one has an unexpected burst of pink peppercorn juxtaposed with the softness of Turkish rose and amber woods.

4. Lil Fleur by Byredo -- Known for fragrances created with rare ingredients, Byredo’s latest is sparkling, crisp, and enveloping with top notes of Cassis and Tangerine. Blonde Woods, Amber, and Vanilla add notes of sophistication at the base of the fragrance.

5. Forest Lungs from the Nue Co. This one gets the prize for the strangest name! But I definitely love the description: Deep and smoky, it's a deep breath of woodsy, earthy scents, accented by cedar, pine, vetiver, and patchouli.

3. The Exhibit To See This Spring

Last week I joined two great old friends from Wellesley days for a fun afternoon of fabulous art and good conversation. I had heard about the New Museum exhibit for the phenomenal Faith Ringgold but I wasn't prepared for just how much I would enjoy it! Considered one of the most influential cultural figures of her generation, she's an artist, activist, author and educator whose work is breathtaking and beautiful to behold. Faith Ringgold's storytelling and historical perspective are not to be missed and I urge you to go if possible. The show is on until the 5th of June.

4. Bridgerton is Back Baby!

Last night I watched the hotly anticipated 1st episode of the 2nd season of Bridgerton. Brought to us by prolific show runner Shonda Rhimes for Netflix, it didn't disappoint. Filled with everything she's famous for; witty repartee, gorgeous costumes, eye-popping scenery, steamy sex scenes, and drama with a capital D, it can't be beaten for sheer escapist entertainment however revisionist one might find it. (I have to admit to sorely missing the Duke of Hastings though!) If you're a true Bridgerton fan of all things Regency you might need to know about this collab as well as this one! Enjoy the binge.

5. Saved The Best For Last (NOT!)

It wouldn't be spring without some spring cleaning tips, right? Maybe you remember the specific spring closet cleaning post I did right here on HOT. I'm not sure about you but every year around this time I start noticing a lot of things in my place that I don't like; dirty windows, overstuffed closets, disorganized cabinets, and myriad other projects I've let slide all winter. I try and plan a major spring cleaning week as soon as we're sure most of the winter weather is behind us. I found this article with 6 basic but helpful tips on the website Spruce which is a great resource if you don't know about it.

Happy sprucing!

Terry xoxo
